The rarest gem on the fine fundraiser Stroke: Songs for Chris Knox? This first song in a decade from Neutral Milk Hotel recluse Jeff Mangum — a Tall Dwarf’s cover in which Mangum declares “Let’s go away” and “blend into the crowd” in his ageless, heartwrenched bray over acoustic guitar. Cool, bro, but do come back, you’re missed bad. - all of Jeff Mangum’s Grammar Nazi bros down at Rolling Stone
The Minister of Longitude - The Music Tapes

Watch the sun
Hide all night
What’s it scared of
What’s it scared of

Watch the sun
Hide all night
What’s it scared of
What’s it scared of

How in the world
Can you say the world
Is a sad place

How are we worlds here to waste
The life abates
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful

Sail said the seas
The wind never sins
Where its circumference
On axis spins
There’s one thing I know for sure
There’s one thing I know for sure

How in the world
Can you say the world
Is a sad place

How are we worlds here to waste
The life abates
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful

Merge has announced that Julian Koster of The Music Tapes will take the Caroling Tour for a second spin this year. Last year consisted of Koster playing at the houses of fans who had requested a caroling (at our stop in the photo!), playing the singing saw, banjo, and Magnus organ. Whether this year’s tour will be similar in style is still uncertain, but it’s definitely going to be just as magical.

of Montreal - Requiem For O.M.M.2

“No, you’ve never left my mind. It’s such a burden to carry around, the vestiges of dead dreams, and I don’t want to make a wake out of my life. I just have to let you go”
